Blogger Help!!

Does anyone else have trouble with Blogger spacing? Sometimes I just cannot get my spacing to stay and it makes the posts so hard to read. It is driving me mad, simply mad.

HA!!

And you guys thought I was crazy when I wrote this post earlier this year.

Check out the Green Smoothie Challenge.

The other day, I tried to get out of my green smoothie recipe rut and tried something a little different….frozen bananas, frozen peaches, about an inch of fresh peeled ginger, lots of romaine and water. With frozen fruit, you don’t usually need any ice. Just blend away until it’s as smooth as you can get it and add water to desired consistency.

It was delicious!

Hope for Grace**

In yesterday’s day book, I mentioned that I was starting a special project for some friends of ours. As most of you know, one of my hobbies is candlemaking. Right now, I feel like I have an opportunity to use my candles to do something special to help some people that I love dearly.

When we lived in Virginia, our friends Tim and Susan began the adoption process at the same time we did; us from Liberia, them from China. We even had our in house portion of our homestudy done on the same day by the same social worker. She went right from our house to theirs. We were blessed to bring our son home only 7 short (it didn’t seem that way at the time) months later, but it was a 2 1/2 year process for them to bring their sweet Nathan home.

Now, less than a year later, God has given Tim, Susan and their wonderful family an opportunity to adopt another child from China. Zhang Dou Dou is a precious little 1 1/2 year old girl with a heart condition. It seems her condition is correctable or at least manageable with the right medical care. For those of you who don’t know, China will typically only adopt to you if you have 4 or fewer children living in your home. Tim and Susan have 5. God brought this child into their lives and they are trusting Him to work out all of the details.

They were not prepared financially for the expense of another adoption, but again, they are stepping out in faith and trusting God to make it happen. They are selling items on Craigs list, having garage sales, lemonade stands and bake sales. This is also where you and I come in. I’ve got a cabinet full of candles that are just waiting to make your home smell delightful and I’m making more by the day. All profits from your candle purchases through the end of October will go to help bring Zhang Dou Dou home to her forever family. Tim and Susan are thinking about naming her Grace. What a beautiful name for a beautiful little girl.

So, here’s how it works.
1. Check out my inventory (this will change frequently in the days ahead)
2. Send an email to fohope@hotmail.com with a list of the candles you would like to purchase to help with Grace’s adoption expenses.
3. I’ll send you a total with shipping and my mailing address for you to send me a check.
4. Once I receive your check, I will ship your candles USPS priority.
5. At the end of October, I get to send our friends a big check to help bring Grace home….all thanks to your purchases.
FYI: We already have $53!!

Great Flick

Kevin and I had the privilege of seeing this great new Christian film on its opening night last night when some friends of ours suddenly found themselves with two extra tickets. It’s really a must see. My hope is that some people will stumble into it thinking it’s just an action movie about a fire fighter…..what they’ll get is so much more. Please go support this movie while it’s in theaters so it will stay there a while.

For those of you who saw Sherwood Pictures’ first film, Facing the Giants, and enjoyed the movie but felt like the acting was a little cheesy at times (like I did), this one is much better in my opinion.

Do I get it, or not?

Sometimes, I think I get it, but then I find myself still sitting on the couch.

Confused?

The Story of Gianna Jessen

My friend, Katie, shared the story of Gianna Jessen on her blog. I researched further and found the video of this speech at the Victorian Parliament in Australia. I also found this bio and discovered that she is not only an abortion survivor with cerebral palsey, but she is a marathon runner. She does everything she does for the the Glory of God.

Reconsidering Comments

Here’s why. No, my ego and need for affirmation haven’t gotten the best of me. I simply miss my friends. I guess somehow I thought, once again, that my blog was all about me. In a way it is, in the sense that I blog about me, my family, my friends and my life, but it’s also about you, my readers, our common bonds and shared interests. It’s about staying connected to the people in my life and knowing that you’re out there peaking in at us from a distance, staying connected to us and reminiscing with me from time to time. You are all a part of me and this blog somehow; whether I know you in person or not. The fact of the matter is, your feedback, suggestions, rebukes, affirmation, wisdom and simple hellos are part of what made this blog mine. So, if you stop by on a regular basis or just pop in from somewhere else, I would love a hidy ho from time to time. I was telling a friend of mine the other day, that blogging without comments makes me feel like I’m talking to myself. I do enough of that already :o)

I’m off to enjoy an almost fall like day here in sunny Florida.
